Former Iron Maiden, and Cutting Crew musician, Tony Moore on his forty-year journey towards creating the ‘Awake’ show; his cinematic masterpiece, and life’s work

Fast forward to 2023, and the pub has a new, multipurpose basement venue where this week, the musical chameleon and ex-Iron Maiden keyboard player Tony Moore brought his one-man stage show Awake for one night only. “Never Gonna Say Goodbye” is the heartwarming and sentimental celebration of letting go. Looking back at the distance we’ve traveled but also to the future that lay ahead. MADE IN 77
A few years ago, I wrote, played, and recorded this to celebrate 40 years since I joined Iron Maiden as a keyboard player in 1977. I wanted to create a piece of music that captured a little of the spirit of what was happening in 1977 and how (in my imagination) the band “might” have sounded if I had stayed on as a keyboard player. There are so many kind, generous and supportive IM fans out there that have been there for me over the years, and this is for all of them. And if you want to learn how to play the main guitar part – here is a tutorial for you.
